This is where it all starts. Fat Cat is Young and Restless and lives at The House on Waterside where all the animals in the neighborhood congregate. Fat Cat is the unofficial mayor. He dispenses advice with some snotty side comments. Mostly, however, the joke is on him. His tongue gets stuck to a lamppost in the middle of winter because he licked it, and for some reason, he thought that jumping on the back of Glenda the Goose was a good idea just as they took off to fly over the Waterside Cemetery. This book is full of mishaps but it ends well. Fat Cat and Flavie the Flying Fish get married at Stonybrook Farm and that's a sweet thing.
